This research is part of a PhD project at Victoria University of Wellington – Te Herenga Waka, exploring parents’ experiences with school communication about bullying.

Our Research Focus

The aim of this research is to better understand how schools communicate with families about bullying policies and incidents, especially through school websites and apps. Your responses will help identify gaps and guide improvements in how schools support and inform parents.

The survey is anonymous, takes around 15 minutes.

This research has been approved by the Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington Human Ethics Committee (Application number: HE000309).

About the Survey

The survey contains 3 sections (you can take part in one or more sections depending on your experiences). You do not need to complete every part, but any information you provide is incredibly valuable to help reduce the level of bullying currently in Aotearoa New Zealand schools.

The full survey takes approximately 15 minutes. Most questions will ask you to select from a list, while others will ask you to describe your experience in your own words. Only Section 3 requires you to have had experience bullying behaviour involving your child.

This research is anonymous. This means that nobody, including the researchers, will be aware of your name and identity. By completing the survey, you are giving consent for us to use your responses in this research. If you choose to leave partway during the survey, any answers you have provided will be included in analysis. Once you submit the survey, it will be impossible to retract your answer. Once you have begun the survey, you will have two weeks to complete your responses. If you have not completed the survey within two weeks, any answers you have provided will be submitted for analysis. Your answers will remain completely anonymous and unidentifiable. Please do not include any personal identifiable information in your answers to ensure they are anonymous. Any identifying information you may include in your answers will be removed during the analysis.
